ACADEMICS
English, mathematics, science, and social studies are the academic courses offered at Western Area Career & Technology Center. These academic programs are supplemental to the vocational instructional areas.
Non-Credit
Students who exhibit a deficiency in an academic subject area will be enrolled in one academic class at the request of the home school. A variety of methods are used, including online programs to assist student to prepare for standardized testing.
Credit
Students will be placed in academic classes – English, mathematics, science, and/or social studies – for credit based upon the recommendation of the sending school. Students may take these courses if they need an academic course to graduate and cannot otherwise take this course at the home school, or if they choose to double-up within an academic area in the same year. Upon the successful completion of the vocational and academic courses, these students will be awarded three credits in their vocational program and one credit in the academic discipline. Credit classes currently offered include: Algebra I, Algebra II, Applied Physics, Economics, English 10, English 11 & 12, Geometry, and Government.
